Microsoft Access development is often associated with small single PC databases designed and built by users (not developers). These can be very efficient and, in terms of money are often incredibly cheap though in terms of time – very expensive!
The inbuilt wizards can be immensely helpful in providing basic design and functionality.

Users who spend time on development often use a powerful (and inbuilt) macro language to great effect. Although it can speed a development it often causes much frustration. You can often covert macros automatically to VBA
Professional developers use the powerful VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) language. This is included in all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Outlook for example)
